ERDF Funded Programmes
West Midlands 5G Limited has been awarded up to £2m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund.
Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations. For more information visit https://www.gov.uk/european-growth-funding.
The programme delivers co-funded short-term SME engagements, including:
- facilitated workshops to explain what 5G is, what technology is available, on what timeline and how it might be used.
- Online awareness raising sessions focussing on 5G and digital adoption
- working with supply-side innovators providing business and technical analysis including support with business and development planning
- working with demand-side SMEs looking to adopt 5G technology in order to deliver business benefits supporting them on their digital journey
These engagements are continuing to be delivered with great success – despite the challenges SMEs face owing to the pandemic and challenging economic environment.
