We’re delighted that our trailblazing care enabled by technology programme has been recognised as the Best Innovation Project of the Year at the Health Tech Digital awards.

While the NHS Long Term Plan and adult social care reforms are accelerating digital transformation across our health and care services, the shift from analogue to digital, hospital to community, and sickness to prevention is already well underway. West Midlands’ citizens are among the first to experience the benefits, enjoying greater independence empowered by technology that enables them to live safely in their own homes for longer, and access more discrete and effective mental health support.

The programme, which was funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology as part of 5G Innovation Regions, has already been shown to reduce avoidable hospital admissions and free existing resources to provide more care for vulnerable people, helping councils meet the challenge of growing demand for adult social care.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, including Rethink Partners, Birmingham City Council, Wolverhampton City Council and Coventry City Council. Together we are demonstrating what is possible when we take a joined-up approach to digital care, creating models of care that can be scaled nationally and setting new standards for digital innovation.
