West Midlands 5G Limited (WM5G) – the UK’s largest 5G innovation company, has announced the appointment of Joanna Seabright to the new position of Marketing Director.

Previously Joanna has held a range of senior marketing positions at transport companies across the region and holds an MBA from Aston Business School.

Since its inception in 2018, WM5G has achieved considerable success in helping the West Midlands become the best-connected region in the UK for 5G.  The organisation is also successfully in testing and proving transformational benefits from breakthrough 5G services in healthcare, transport, manufacturing, and other sectors via their 5G testbeds and 5G accelerators in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry.

Following WM5G’s success, the organisation is evolving the company to focus on accelerating the deployment of advanced connectivity, delivering further innovation and support organisations to adopt the benefits from connectivity, internet of things and data & AI solutions. Their mission is to make it radically simpler for public and private sector organisations to gain the benefits from these new technologies – building on the real-world expertise and experience from WM5G.

The new position of Marketing Director has been created to lead the development of the brand, propositions and communications moving forward – further putting their customers at the heart of WM5G.

As such the new Marketing Director position combines the marcomms function which has been led by Accelerator and Communications Director, Lesley Holt, with her new responsibility in brand, proposition, pricing, and placement leadership – working closely with the Connectivity and Sector Directors.

Robert Franks, Managing Director of WM5G, said “I’m delighted that WM5G has attracted a Marketing Director of Joanna’s calibre to join the company. Her expert knowledge of the transport sector and marketing overall will prove invaluable as we grow WM5G in the next stage of our journey.

“I’d like to thank Lesley Holt for her excellent leadership of marketing communications and our accelerators over the last two years. Thanks to Lesley’s leadership, we have exceeded our targets for awareness and engagement and truly started to put WM5G on the map. I’m thrilled that Lesley is staying with WM5G also in a new role as Accelerators and Adoption Director”.

Joanna Seabright, Marketing Director of WM5G, said “I’m really pleased to be joining WM5G as Marketing Director. I’ve seen first-hand how new technologies are starting to transform the transport sector and I’m looking forward to making these benefits available to WM5G’s clients across a range of sectors as well as in our heartland of connectivity.”
