West Midlands 5G and 5PRING will be involved in a number of webinars as part of Birmingham Tech Week, which runs from 12th to 16th October 2020. Find out when each session is happening and how to attend:
Tuesday 13th October, 10.15am – Why 5G will prove fundamental to improving healthcare.
In common with the rest of the UK, the West Midlands needs to reduce pressure on health and care systems, helping citizens to better manage their own health. 5G is a key component; providing the connectivity to deliver care and support away from the clinic and in the community or at home.
During this session you’ll learn:
— Details of trials underway in the region and already delivering benefits
— How by using 5G to spearhead healthcare innovation, the West Midlands is leading the way in improving patient care and transforming healthcare productivity.
Wednesday 14th October, 12.45pm – How can 5G help businesses to thrive, develop and expand? A focus on the transport sector.
1) Existing and future 5G transport trials
West Midlands 5G’s Transport programme consists of a portfolio of projects which have been developed to support new 5G-enabled products and services. The outcome of these projects will make a significant difference to transport across the West Midlands region and have national relevance – supporting the region to take a leading position in digital transport investment. Delegates will receive an overview of these 7 exciting new recently launched projects plus details of a further funding competition for 5G-enabled road and rail trials – a share of up to £2.5 million is available to UK registered businesses.
2) Supporting technical capabilities
Understanding 5G in transport, its potential both in the region and the UK and international context. A debate on the wider opportunities 5G offers and how private and public organisations can engage with the Application Accelerators in the region – 5PRING.
3) Live Q&A session
Find out more about the opportunities to engage with 5G – whether via the trials programme or the different types of engagement offered by the 5PRING accelerator programme. Discuss your new business ideas and/or challenges and learn more about how 5G may help you on your journey.
Friday 16th October, 10.15am – West Midlands 5G – The road to getting the UK’s best 5G network
During this session, you’ll learn:
— From a range of stakeholders in the region why 5G and connectivity is important
— What benefits have already been delivered
— And importantly practical information and advice on how to accelerate the roll-out of 5G
Friday 16th October, 11.30am – KEYNOTE: Why the West Midlands? Opportunities, Talent, Funding and Community
Join the West Midlands Growth Company – the region’s official agency for attracting inward investment – in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT) and a host of top local tech experts, as they unearth the hidden gems of the West Midlands’ tech scene in this closing keynote session for Birmingham Tech Week.
In 60 minutes, you’ll learn about the exclusive opportunities for tech innovation in the region around 5G connectivity and High-Speed rail. Details of how to access funding streams, incubator and scale-up programmes, the local talent pool, and what it’s really like to live and work in the West Midlands’ tech community will also be revealed.
Friday 16th October, 2pm – 5PRING – The UK’s first Application Accelerator for 5G
This panel will talk about what 5G is, the opportunities it presents and how 5PRING can support companies in their 5G journey to develop commercially viable propositions.
